The first thing that comes to mind when you hear the name of Iran, is that is it safe to travel to Iran or not? With the recent world events this issue concerns you more and more often so we’ve thought we’d share with you our knowledge about Iran safety.

Here is a quick introduction of Iran

Iran is an Islamic republic on the Persian Gulf with historical sites dating to the Persian Empire. Extensive marble ruins mark Persepolis, the empire’s capital founded by Darius I in the 6th century B.C. The modern capital, Tehran, is home to opulent Golestan Palace, seat of the Qajar Dynasty (1794–1925). Plus modern landmarks such as the 435 m-high Milad Tower.

Now back to the original question. Of course, even if Iran is safe, you need to be careful like in every other place. Use your common sense, follow the rules (and there are pretty many of them in Iran but still nothing too overwhelming). Respect local culture and people and you shouldn’t have any problems!

Is it safe to travel to Iran?

Iran is generally a very safe place to travel, so much so that many travelers describe it as the ‘safest country I’ve ever been to’ or ‘much safer than travelling in Europe’. Violent crime against foreigners is extremely rare. Indeed, if you do your best to fit in with local customs, you are unlikely to be treated with anything but courtesy and friendliness.

There are many negative opinions about Iran all around the world because of the global politic issues and the propaganda against this country. But people shouldn’t forget the fact that all these arguments are between the governments and not people.

What areas in Iran should you avoid?

Like any country in the world, some places are best to avoid. In Iran, areas close to Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq are high risk and aren’t recommended as travel destinations.

Luckily, all Iran’s top attractions are far away from any of its neighbor’s problems. So you’ll be able to explore the country without any worries.
